Our Story – More Than Three Decades of Growing Disc Golf

Founded in 1994, the Delta Windjammers Disc Golf Club was established with one goal in mind: to promote the sport of disc golf throughout California's San Joaquin Delta region. What started as a small group of passionate players has grown into one of Northern California's longest-standing and most active disc golf clubs.

For more than 30 years, the Windjammers have been dedicated to building a strong local disc golf community through friendly competition, volunteerism, and a shared love for the game. Our members have spent thousands of hours organizing events, maintaining courses, mentoring new players, and helping shape the future of disc golf throughout the Central Valley.

Today, the Delta Windjammers proudly support and call Shumway Oak Grove, Swenson Park, Escalon Golf Course, and New Hogan Lake our home courses. Each course offers a unique style of play, giving our members and visitors an incredible variety of disc golf experiences—from technical wooded fairways and championship layouts to scenic lakeside vistas and golf course-style challenges.

The Delta Windjammers have always believed that disc golf is about more than throwing discs—it's about building community. Whether you're competing in a tournament, defending your bag tag on a Sunday morning, volunteering at a course workday, or introducing someone to the sport for the very first time, every member plays a part in our story.

Throughout the years, we've proudly hosted hundreds of weekly leagues, sanctioned tournaments, clinics, youth events, women's programs, charity fundraisers, and community gatherings. Our commitment to growing the sport extends beyond competition by creating an inclusive environment where everyone—from first-time players to touring professionals—feels welcome.

As disc golf continues to grow, so does our vision. The Delta Windjammers remain committed to improving local courses, supporting parks and recreation partners, expanding opportunities for youth and women through initiatives like our Gal Pal Program, and creating memorable experiences for players of all ages and skill levels.

More than three decades after our founding, our mission remains unchanged: to promote the sport of disc golf, strengthen our local community, and leave the courses we love better than we found them.
